Management
IÖB is led by Professor Dirk Loerwald (Academic Lead and Managing Director). Dr. Michael Koch (Deputy Academic Lead and Managing Director) and Timo Park (Commercial Director) make up the other members of the management team.
The work of IÖB is financed partly through core funding from the Lower Ministry of Science and Culture and partly through third-party funding (e.g. European Union, federal and state ministries, charitable foundations, organisation and the private sector).
Working areas
Oriented towards applying theory into practice, research and development work is carried out in School Practice and Teaching Research, Careers Guidance, E-learning and Qualifications and Empirical Research in Teaching and Instruction. Project Management oversees these working areas, guaranteeing effective cooperation among the areas of research.
Committees
IÖB has a Supervisory Board which acts as a supervisory body and the Scientific Advisory Board takes on an advisory role. The Supervisory Board consists of three members, one of whom is appointed by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science (MWK). The Supervisory Board is responsible for monitoring IÖB’s business activities, advising the management on company matters. The Scientific Advisory Board provides advice to the institute’s management on research activities, research strategy and IÖB’s scientific policy work.
